Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 259 was held in New Orleans on March 29, 2023. Sale 259, just completed, resulted in 353 bids, by 32 companies, on 313 tracts, for a total of $309,798,397. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $263,801,783, on approximately 1.7 million acres.  The last sale in 2021, Sale 257 resulted in 317 bids, by 33 companies, on 308 tracts, for a total of $198,511,834. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $191,688,984, on approximately 1.7 million acres.

  • Exxon Mobil Corporation - 69 bids
  • BP Exploration & Production Inc. - 52 bids
  • Shell Offshore Inc. - 27 bids
  • Equinor Gulf of Mexico LLC - 17 bids
  • Anadarko US Offshore LLC - 17 bids

In terms of total amount exposed, we have:
