Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 253 was held in New Orleans on August 21, 2019. Sale 253, just completed, resulted in 165 bids, by 27 companies, on 151 tracts, for a total of $174,922,200. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $159,386,761, on approximately 0.8 million acres. The last August sale in 2018, Sale 251 resulted in 171 bids, by 29 companies, on 144 tracts, for a total of $202,667,923. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $178,069,406, on approximately 0.8 million acres.
