Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 251 was held in New Orleans on August 15, 2018. Sale 251, just completed, resulted in 171 bids, by 29 companies, on 144 tracts, for a total of $202,667,923. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $178,069,406, on approximately 0.8 million acres. The last August sale in 2017, Sale 249 resulted in 99 bids, by 27 companies, on 90 tracts, for a total of $137,006,181. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $121,143,055, on approximately 0.5 million acres.
