What types of information does OWL contain?
OWL is an easy-to-use, oil and gas exploration database. It contains up-to-date lease ownership, bid, platform, well, well and lease production figures.
 

 

What region does Lexco's OWL database cover?
The federal part of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
 

 

What is the source of the data in the OWL database?
Almost all of the data in the OWL database is purchased from the Minerals Management Service (MMS) in New Orleans, LA USA. The MMS also provides the well log information in OWL.

How often is OWL updated?
All OWL license holders should receive an update CD each month.
 

 

When should the monthly update CD arrive?
Update CDs for a specific month should arrive during the first week of the succeeding month.
 

 

Does Lexco provide special updates for OWL right after OCS lease sales?
Yes, Lexco provides a special zipped file in the User Support Area of www.lexco.com that may be used to update OWL the day after OCS sales.

Which Windows operating systems will OWL run on?
OWL will run on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.
 

 

Is there a Unix version of OWL?
No, OWL only runs on Windows® operating systems networks.

Can OWL be run in a separate window on Unix workstations?
Yes, several third party software products allow the network version of OWL to be run as a separate window on workstations. Lexco does not provide technical support for this type of use of OWL, but a significant number of Lexco's client companies have this type of setup running.
