OWL Will Help You Land A Big Catch Of Data!

 

Use this Update CD ASAP to help your company’s E&P team rapidly “reel in” the basic data that they need. An easy-to-use Setup program has been included on the CD to help you update. It is important that you run this update outside normal office hours.  The  Setup program must be used to update the OWL6 database.  Please run the update: (1) on a computer that has OWL6 and (2) when OWL6 is not in use on your computer network.

 

Network Supervisors should check for active OWL users via the OWL6   Administrator   program  (Admin6.exe)  in  the  Lexco  directory. Click  on  the Active Users tab for a listing of people  using OWL6.  Look at the date listed to the right of the OWL user’s network ID.  If the date listed is not today’s date, the user exited improperly from OWL and is probably not actively using OWL. If you have problems running the Update, call  Lexco for technical support.  Do not uninstall OWL.

 

The Setup program will not run if the OWL6 program is in use. Let the Setup program run until the Finished message appears. You will know that the update has been successful if the date 5/30/2008 is seen on the lower right hand side of the Entry Screen and to the right of the Lexco copyright statement.        

The 5/2008 OWL Update contains Lease, Well and Production data that reflect  MMS computerized records in late May 2008.  The MMS has not yet completed Phase 2 lease approvals for OCS Sale 206.  High bid Sale tracts will carry a “New” lease status in OWL until they are awarded or rejected by the MMS.   At the end of May, Lease and Well production data were available through 2/2008.  

Did you know that OWL can generate production graphs for GOM leases, wells or individual well completions?  A drop down menu appears when OWL users click on the “Graphs” option in the upper left hand corner of the OWL Data Screens.  When a user clicks “Lease”, a production graph of the lease selected on “A/B Production” screen appears.  When a user clicks on “Well Completion”, a production graph for the well selected on the “Well” screen appears. When a user clicks on “Completion Production”, a production graph for the perforated zone selected on the “Comp” screen appears.  These graphs show the rate of production on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis.
