The Outer Continental Shelf Sale 192 was held in New Orleans on August 18, 2004. 

Sale 192, just completed, resulted in 421 bids, by 54 companies, on 351 tracts, for a total of $197,395,164. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $171,387,285, on approximately 2.0 million acres.

In this same area last year, Sale 187 resulted in 407 bids, by 63 companies, on 335 tracts, for a total of $258.7 million. The total sum of apparent winning bids was $148.7 million, on approximately 1.9 million acres.

The following table reflects preliminary sale data released by the MMS, and shows how Sale 192 compares with previous Western Sales

 

The big players, in terms of number of tracts bid on, are:

·        Amerada Hess Corporation - 64 bids

·        BP Exploration & Production Inc. - 59 bids

·       Petrobas America Inc. - 38 bids

·       Devon Energy Production Company, L.P. - 33 bids

·        Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corporation - 26 bids

·        Shell Ofshore Inc. - 26 bids

In terms of total amount exposed, we have:

·       BP Exploration & Production Inc. - $30.8 million

·       Amerada Hess Corporation - $15.0 million

·       Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corporation - $14.6 million

·       Devon Energy Production Company, L.P. - $14.2 million

·        Petrobas America Inc. - $11.8 million

In terms of total amount of high bids, we have:

·        BP Exploration & Production Inc. - $28.1 million

·        Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corporation - $14.1 million

·        Amerada Hess Corporation - $13.7 million

·        Devon Energy Production Company, L.P. - $11.5 million

·        Petrobas America Inc. - $10.7 million
