07/10 Update CD

OWL Is The Fastest Vehicle For Finding New E&P Data!

Update ASAP to keep your company in the lead in evaluating new Lease and Well data. An easy-to-use Setup program has been included on the CD to help you update. It is important that you run this update outside normal office hours.  The Setup program must be used to update the OWL6 database.  Please run the update: (1) on a computer that has OWL6 and (2) when OWL6 is not in use on your computer network.

Network Supervisors should check for active OWL users via the OWL6   Administrator   program  (Admin6.exe)  in  the  Lexco  directory. Click  on  the Active Users tab for a listing of people  using OWL6.  Look at the date listed to the right of the OWL user's network ID.  If the date listed is not today's date, the user exited improperly from OWL and is probably not actively using OWL. If you have problems running the Update, call  Lexco for technical support.  Do not uninstall OWL.

The Setup program will not run if the OWL6 program is in use. Let the Setup program run until the Finished message appears. You will know that the update has been successful if the date 7/29/2010 is seen on the lower right hand side of the Entry Screen and to the right of the Lexco copyright statement.  A Help folder has been included on the OWL 6.7 Update 7/2010 CD.  The folder includes a browser-based OWL 6 Help system for Windows Vista and 7 users.  Please copy the entire Help folder over to the Lexco folder where the OWL6 executable resides.  The OWL Database will automatically access the appropriate Help system based on the user's Windows OS version.

The 7/2010 OWL Update contains Lease, Well, Platform, and Production data that reflect BOEMRE (MMS) computerized records in late July 2010.  This update includes Phase 2 Lease approvals for all but five tracts offered in OCS Sale 213.  High bid Sale tracts will carry a "New" lease status in OWL until they are awarded or rejected by the BOEMRE (MMS).   At the end of July, most Lease and Well production data were available through 5/2010.

Did you know that the OWL Production Report No. 7 (Field Production) shows a summary of a producing field's OCS Blocks, leases, water depths, producing wells, reservoirs, production dates, perforation range, and cumulative production?  This report is an excellent way to compare the statistics of different fields, such as production, reservoirs, and well counts.
